The Fargo Marathon is an annual marathon in Fargo, North Dakota. It is sponsored by Scheels All Sports. The first Fargo Marathon was held in 2005, and 2,271 participants were registered.
According to the reports, Fargo’s Marathon director Mark Knutson is of the view that over the span of six years, there are several overseas participants and professional athletes that have also shown interest and registered their participation in this 2010 Fargo marathon. He further said that it’s good for the promotion of the Fargo and we are looking forward to expand this Marathon in an international level.
The 2010 Fargo 5-kilometer Marathon was taken place on Friday May 21. As it was expected there were 6,500 competitors that participated in the competition. So, the first 5-km round of 2010 Fargo was successfully made to end. The director Mark Knutson is confident and positive for the upcoming ‘full marathon’, and he is hoping more than 20,000 contestants to take part in this competition. He said, “I’m pretty confident that we’re over the twenty thousand mark. Our guess is that we’ve exceeded the figure of 20,000 contestants which we were hoping to get this year, in terms of registration. With any racing, you have a no-show factor.”
The total number of 2010 Fargo Marathon registers competitors in different categories are:
Full marathon: 22,000
Half Marathon: 6,500
Team palys: 1,600
Mark further said that the cloudy weather might play an important role in showing the positive results. Due to the hot weather conditions there will be risk that the registered participants may withdraw themselves from the competition. So, cloudy weather will play an important role in keeping the temperature cold.
