Keri Ann Brekne, 28, a seventh-grade social studies teacher at Lopatcong Middle School in Warren County, New Jersey, was arrested on January 25, 2008 for allegedly having sex with a 14-year-old female student at Brekne's home in Pennsylvania.

Brekne has been charged with second-degree sexual assault, second-degree child endangerment and third-degree aggravated criminal sexual contact in New Jersey and involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, aggravated indecent assault and corruption of minors in Pennsylvania.


Update: October 11, 2008:After pleading guilty to five counts of felony aggravated indecent sexual assault, Brekne was sentenced to 15 to 30 years in prison.

Prior to sentencing, Judge Kimberly McFadden told Brekne, "In 20 years on the bench, I have not seen a case as heinous as this one."
