On Feb. 21, 2008, Marla K. Meek was sentenced to five years in prison with four years suspended, after she pleaded guilty to carnal knowledge of a juvenile. Meek, a former teacher at South Beauregard Junior High, in DeRidder, Louisiana, was arrested for having sex with a 15-year-old student in October 2006.



Also as part of her sentence, Meek must register as a sex offender and seek therapy. She is also prohibited from being around male juveniles except for her own children.
