Shelly Lowery, 28, was a high-school English teacher at Burton High School in Brenham, Texas. In November 2003, the local police responded to a noise complaint at her home and discovered eight teens, ages 14 to 19, and Lowery in the apartment having a party. Reportedly some of the teens were drunk, the apartment was scattered with beer cans and pornography was playing on the television.

Lowery was charged with furnishing alcohol to minors and displaying harmful content to minors.
