Into the 37-play first half, the Trojans on the offense scored five times, while being scoreless during the 41-play second half when the defense took over.
Baxter ran for about 94 yards on nine carries, he zipped past untouched during his scoring run, when he found an opening on the left sideline, and was able to avoid a couple of defenders on his way to the endzone.
“It was an interesting scrimmage because of the two different halves,” said Kiffin. “The offense relaxed in the second half, while the defense came out ready to play. That’s a great lesson, that it doesn’t matter what happens in the first half.”
