Chuck Lorre (born Charles Michael Levine on October 18, 1952) is a writer, director, producer and composer who has worked on many American sitcoms, including Grace Under Fire, Dharma & Greg, Two and a Half Men, The Big Bang Theory and the Canadian 1980s to 90s show My Secret Identity.
He wrote Deborah Harry's radio hit single "French Kissin' in the USA" for the 1986 Rockbird album.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Lorre will be bringing us Mike and Molly along with Men producer Mark Roberts, who also wrote the script.
Mike and Molly is a multi-camera ensemble comedy "revolving around a couple who struggle with overeating and meet at Overeaters Anonymous."
In other pilot news, Emmy Rossum (The Phantom of the Opera) will be starring with William H. Macy (Fargo) in John Wells' (ER, The West Wing) Showtime pilot, Shameless. West Wing vet Allison Janney, and Justin Chatwin, will also be a part of the Wells pilot - which is based on the critically acclaimed British series of the same name – about The Gallaghers, a working-class Chicago clan dealing with the recession.
