Gay Lyn Turley, 43, taught and coached at an Arizona high school in Mesa for at least 18 years until a woman, now 21, accused Turley of violating her when she was 16-years-old. Reportedly, Charmai Choate was 16 when she and Turley first engaged in a sexual relationship. The relationship continued for several months and in 2005, Choate moved into Turley's home.

Turley pleaded guilty to sexual conduct with a minor and was sentenced to 10 years of supervised probation. She is also required to register as a sex offender and must surrender her teacher's certificate.
