On March 13, 2008, former Lumberton Texas high school teacher, Kathy White, 42, admitted to having sex with a 17-year-old student in September 2004. White, who could have faced a 20-year prison sentence, received 10 years probation, a $2,000 fine and is ordered to complete 300 hours of community service. White, who taught at Lumberton High School for 15 years, has had her teaching certificate permanently revoked.
