We’re about to find out who, if anyone, will be eliminated from the Top 7 tonight as part of the Idol Gives Back special event. I’m not expecting to see an elimination, but Seacrest did say we’d get results at the end of tonight’s show. I suppose those results could always be that there are no results, but we’ll have to wait and see.

Update: Ryan Seacrest just confirmed that yes, someone will go home tonight!

Based on your votes in our Top 7 performance poll it’s a three-way tie for last place with Tim Urban, Aaron Kelly, and Michael Lynche. If one of those three go then I’d guess right now that it’s not Urban. Sigh. He’s like the bad guy in the horror movie that just won’t stop! Who do you think it might be?

Idol Gives Back, the historic Emmy Award-winning television event and music celebration has raised more than $140 million to benefit charities around the world and across the United States. The two-hour fundraising event will return to FOX on Wednesday, April 21 at 8/7c. Beneficiaries for this year's event include Children's Health Fund, Feeding America, Malaria No More, Save the Children's U.S. Programs and the United Nations Foundation. Click here to learn more about each charity. This year's special will feature performances and appearances by some of Hollywood's biggest stars as well as a few surprises. In previous years, Idol Gives Back has welcomed President Barack Obama, British Prime Minister Gordon Brown, former President George W. Bush, Brad Pitt, Bono, Reese Witherspoon, Miley Cyrus, Eli Manning, Peyton Manning, Annie Lennox, Daughtry, Carrie Underwood, Mariah Carey, Gwen Stefani, Josh Groban, Pink, Celine Dion, Robin Williams, Ben Stiller and others.

he American Idol Gives Back event to date has raised a whopping $140 million dollars. This year the monies raised will benefit various charities in the US and internationally. The Idol Gives Back part of the show this year is hosted by Queen Latifah in Pasadena, California. The Idol Gives Back 2010 performers are as follows: Elton John, Alicia Keys, Carrie Underwood, Joss Stone, The Black Eyed Peas, Annie Lennox and Jeff Beck all are scheduled to appear as performers on the program.

So what particular charities will benefit from the money raised this year? Producer Cecile Prot-Coutaz says, “This year, we’re a little bit more weighted toward domestic causes.” Such charities include: Children’s Health Fund, Feeding America, Malaria No More, Save the Children’s US Programs and the United Nations Foundation.

In addition, any of the performances from the evening that you purchase off of iTunes will go to benefit the Idol Gives Back charities.

In case you were wondering, Idol Gives Back was not held last year in 2009 due to the economic crisis and recession. The first installment of the event took place in season six of American Idol back in 2007. Monies raised from that year went to those in Africa and those affected by Hurricane Katrina. With a show as successful as Idol, it is so fabulous to see them give back to people who need it.
