ESPN sportscaster Erin Andrews is stewing after The View's Elisabeth Hasselbeck criticized her for dressing provocatively on Dancing With the Stars. Hasselbeck's remarks were "a slap in the face to victims of stalking and sexual predators," Andrews, who has faced two stalking incidents in the past year, told People on Tuesday. Hasselbeck had opined about Andrews' convicted hotel-room peeper, "I mean, in some way if I'm him, I'm like, 'Man! I just could've waited 12 weeks and seen this – a little bit less – without the prison time!' "
• Online reaction to Miley Cyrus' new video, "Can't Be Tamed," which features racy moves and bold costumes, isn't tame. Fans and bloggers lit up the Web with comments ranging from "stunning, gorgeous, fierce" to "wow way too much for someone her age." The 17-year-old told E!, "The video is not about being sexy or about who can wear less clothes. That's what every other video is about. It's about explaining the song and living the lyrics." Her album of the same name is out June 22.
Erin Andrews was hurt by Hasselbeck’s comments, so Elisabeth took a moment on The View today to break down and cry over the comments, saying, “…I ended up hurting her.”
Hasselbeck left work the previous day and felt bad about her comments pertaining to Andrews’ costumes. She explained the situation to her 5-year-old, Grace: “I took out her little devotional .. and told her I would use my words more mindfully. … She’s so cute, she said to me, ‘Mommy, why don’t you just call Erin and tell her you’re sorry?’ “
Hasselbeck continued, “So, thankfully, I listened to her — she’s a wise little girl — and I did. So, I’m really sorry, and I wanted to offer that publicly too, even though I did follow that advice.”
Erin Andrews had told The Insider yesterday that she was “shocked” and “disappointed” about Hasselbeck’s comments, saying it was “a slap in the face to victims of stalking and sexual predators.”
What exactly did Hasselbeck say about Erin Andrews? She commented about Andrews’ stalker going to jail, but put the focus on the DWTS’ costumes, saying, “In some ways, if I’m him, I just could’ve waited 12 weeks and seen this (points to photos of Andrews on ‘DWTS’), a little bit less, without the prison time.”
