A woman wielding two knives went on a rampage Monday at a Target store in West Hollywood, stabbing four shoppers in an apparently random attack that left one victim in critical
Authorities say Layla Trawick, 34, entered the store and attacked shoppers with a butcher knife and a steak knife. An off-duty L.A. County sheriff's deputy and store security guards apprehended her.

According to Sgt. Josh Mankini, the random stabbings took place on the second floor of Target. Witnesses say there was widespread panic, screaming and a stampede.
I can only imagine.

Of all the things I worry about when out shopping, be it the grocery store, Target, Sears, Macy’s and many others, the last thing on my mind is worrying about someone randomly stabbing me—or the person in the next aisle. Actually, I don’t think it’s ever been on my mind. While I realize there’s been violence in some of the malls across the nation, it has been sporadic and usually stems from some sort of domestic dispute.

This time, it’s just vile. How long before some idiot with a knife decides to be a copy cat? We all know cowards never think for themselves. We also know that there’s not always going to be an off duty deputy close by. We can’t sit home and avoid shopping out of fear, though.
So now what?

Do we need to start posting armed security in each department of a store? Should we be searching hand bags and pockets before allowing entry to a store? The suspect used a kitchen knife and a butcher knife—do we need knife control laws along with gun control?

When you hear of stories like ‘Layla Trawick Arrested: Four Stabbed At Target Store’, do you become angry or worried, or simply shrug and think so what? Will you be more aware of people around you the next time you’re out spending your hard earned money?
