Whether your book is published with a small press, large press, or self-published, getting the word out to the public about your book is key. These days most publishers, even the big name ones do not do much marketing for the author. You as the author are required to step up to the plate and do most if not all of your own marketing. This is even more true if your book is self-published. Facebook, a social networking website is one way you can get the word out about your book.

Instructions
Things You'll Need:
·        A computer
·        An internet connection
·        An profile on Facebook
·        A published book

1.        
Set up an account with Facebook. This is very easy and can be done in a matter of minutes.
2.        
Use the cover art from your latest release for your avatar. This gets your book in front of anyone who views your Facebook profile and helps to pique interest.
3.        
Add the cover art for all of your books to your profile under the photos section. These will show up on your profile page and again garner more interest for your books.
4.        
Add your video book trailers to your profile under the videos section. Having a book trailer for your book is the hot thing with authors and publishers right now. Many books are sold based on the fact that someone saw the book trailer first.
5.        
Add friends. The more people you have for friends on Facebook, the more books you can potentially sell because more people will be seeing your profile.
6.        
Put a link to your Facebook profile on your business cards, and in your e-mail signature. Then when you send e-mails or post to any online groups such as Yahoo groups, others will see it and go check out your profile. This is also a good way to find new friends.
7.        
Create a Facebook badge that has information about you and your profile to add to your websites, blogs, and other social networking profiles.
8.        
Use your wall to leave messages for visitors to your profile about any specials, contests, and other news.
9.        
If you have a free e-book that you give away then post it in the Facebook Marketplace under the free section. You'll reach a lot of people who will download your book and may purchase more books by you in the future.
10.        
If you have a book published through Lulu, be sure and add your mini-storefront to your profile. It is a small widget that will have all the books in your Lulu online bookstore listed with links to the sales pages.
11.        
Post your events both on and offline on your Facebook profile under the Events section. This is a good way to get people to your events when you have them, it is especially nice for online author's chats, and e-loop discussions.
12.        
Join authors and readers groups on Facebook. This is a great way to meet and network with potential book buyers.
