Duane Chapman "Dog" Chapman (born February 3, 1953) is an American bounty hunter and a former bail bondsman. He stars in Dog the Bounty Hunter, a weekly reality television program which is broadcast on the A&E Network (USA), Virgin 1 and Bravo (UK/Ireland), FOX8 and GO! (Australia), and OLN (Canada), and RTL II (Germany).

He was the oldest of the four children. His character was shaped by his two very different parents. While his father was allegedly abusive, he credited his mother for helping him to find the path to God. Duane grew up in a tough neighborhood and was often beaten up in school, which resulted in his dropping out of school.

The newspaper's synopsis of the book says Chapman "recalls his past of abuse and addiction and describes his bounty hunts."
