Gregory "Greg" Efthimios Louganis (born January 29, 1960) is an American Olympic diver and author. He is best known for winning back-to-back Olympic titles in both the 3m and 10m diving events.

He received the James E. Sullivan Award from the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) in 1984 as the most outstanding amateur athlete in the United States.

It was 1994 when Louganis announce to the world that he was gay. He took part in the 1994 Gay games as a diving announcer as well as putting on a diving exhibition for capacity crowds. In 1995, Louganis cowrote his autobiography, Breaking the Surface, with the assistance of author Eric Marcus. In that book, Louganis detailed a relationship of domestic abuse and rape. It was in that book that he also disclosed to the world that he was HIV positive, having been diagnosed a few months before the Seoul Games. As expected at that time, most of his corporate sponsors dropped him as a client when they heard the news of his HIV status. The exception was swimsuit manufacturer Speedo, who retained him as an endorser of their products until 2007.

Louganis met and moved in with crafty and deceitful Tom Barrett (Jeffrey Meek), who took control of the athlete's career by becoming his manager and assuming power of attorney over his finances, image, and sports endorsements. The relationship quickly degenerated into a series of abusive power plays, with Barrett at one point brutally raping Louganis. Tom was a homosexual prostitute. Tom was abusive and once raped Louganis at knifepoint. Louganis wrote in his book that "the next day I called Tom and told him that I was sorry. I thought that nobody else would have me after what he had done, so I needed him to love me or I would be alone. We saw each other that day, and he didn't say anything about the rape; no apology, nothing. It was as if it had never happened.". This being the mid-1980s, AIDS quickly entered the picture with both men becoming infected. Louganis advised the sympathetic Coach O'Brien of his sexual preference and HIV-positive status, but was deemed healthy enough to continue training and to compete in the 1988 Olympics.
