As a part time activist, Doria has committed herself to inspiring compassion, social action and change through her music and various projects. She has been inspired by Nina Simone’s "Mississippi Goddamn", Odetta’s "Another Man Done Gone", Janis Ian’s "Society’s Child, Billie Holiday’s "Strange Fruit", John
Lennon’s elegy "Working Class Hero", and almost everything by Ani DiFranco, and Patti Smith. The personal experience sometimes becomes political and the stage sometimes becomes a forum—a space not only to entertain, but to also inform.
1996 - Present - Queerstock Festival - Executive Producer showcases and supports g/l/b/t/ artists
2004 – Present - Black Eyed Susans – Founder / Executive Producer showcases women of color artists and musicians through various tribute events honoring women of color artists, thinkers, educators, activists
2002 "Queer Stock, Queer Soup" Compilation – Executive Producer - The 30 track double disc benefits queer youth agencies around the country. Tracks include Ani DiFranco, Melissa Ferrick, Tret Fure, Pansy Division, Alix Olson, Bitch & Animal, Phranc, Toshi Reagon, Alix Dobkin and Urvashi Vaid (liner notes).
2002 - Ladyfest South Festival - Co-Producer and Project Advisor / "Southern Belles Raising Hell" Compilation (32 track double disc) - Executive Producer – Showcased - Four day, seventeen venue festival showcasing over 100 female and female identified artists in theater, spoken, word, music, and visual arts. raising funds and awareness for two southern based domestic violence prevention agencies.
1998 - Rock for Youth - Founder - concert series for all youth in crisis. Rock for Youth concert was held in Atlanta with performances by Roberts, John Mayer and Matthew Kahler and benefited Nuci’s Space, a state of the art rehearsal, mental health counseling and mentoring facility for artists.
1997-"Thrive" Compilation – (donated track) benefits Youth Pride, Inc. which mentors g/l/b/t youth. The disc included donated tracks from the Indigo Girls, Shawn Mullins, and the Josh Joplin Group
Other Appearances: the Vagina Monologues V-Day series, Rock for Choice, Take Back the Night, and Creating Change Conference sponsored by the National Gay & Lesbian Task Force (2001, 2002, 2003)
